The constant action of wind in nature causes abrasion and rounding of sand grains in deserts. Sand with fine, rounded edges not only looks more natural but, above all, is much safer for animals. Compared to the sand generally available in supermarkets, for example, Exo Terra sand poses a much lower risk if swallowed by a reptile and also does not cause abrasions on the reptiles’ skin.
